Award of Distinction Nomination Form

Throughout Canada’s coal industry, leadership, excellence, and innovation contribute to a strong and thriving coal sector. The Coal Association of Canada’s Award of Distinction shines a spotlight on those that have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in the coal industry in Canada. This could be industry leaders that demonstrate innovation, safety leadership, productivity improvement, and excellence in human resources, which contribute to our industry as a whole.

In 2017, an Award of Distinction will be bestowed on an individual. The award recipient doesn’t have to be a member of the Coal Association of Canada but they must be a person who has made a significant contribution to the coal industry in Canada. If you know of a deserving individual that should be honoured with this award, please fill out attached nomination form located at the back of this information package.

The recipient of the 2017 Award of Distinction will be notified by late April. A public announcement of the winner will be sent out in August 2017.

Deadline for nominations is Friday, March 31, 2017.

AWARD PRESENTATION

The Award of Distinction will be presented at the Coal Association of Canada Conference banquet on September 28, 2017 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

SELECTION PROCESS

A committee, made up of members of the Coal Association of Canada Board of Directors, will select the recipient based on the merit of the information and references that are supplied.

NOMINATION PROCEDURE

The following items must be included in the nomination package:

  • Nomination Form Completed
  • Summary of Qualifications & Achievements

NOMINATION FORM 2017 AWARD OF DISTINCTION

Please submit a summary of the nominee’s qualifications and achievement in a separate document, not exceeding two pages. Outline why this individual is deserving of this award and summarize their achievements and the impact they have had, and continue to have, on the coal industry. Include examples of how their efforts have contributed to the industry. Review previous recipients for more information.

Additional reference information, such as letters of support, other industry recognition or awards, photographs or news articles to support your nomination will help strengthen your nomination. Please keep supplementary materials to five pages and under.
